I am very delighted that for the fourth time such a unique music event in the garden of Schönbrunn Palace could be realised. This year’s concert welcomes Russia to Europe. With the artistic and general director of the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, Valéry Gergiev as conductor of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra expectations of artistic value are especially high.
The concert presenting Russian music by Tschaikowsky and Strawinsky will once more define the city of Vienna as a capital of culture accessible for all those who are interested in music. We have the chance to hear Europe’s cultural plurality – in one language being understandable everywhere – the language of music.
I want to express my gratitude to all the participating artists, to the organiser and to all the sponsors. The audience and all of us I wish a fantastic concert evening in the garden of Schönbrunn Palace.
